Business Cards: To Be or Not To Be?

I have reached that place in the reboot of my company where I am starting to think about things like business cards.

Let me say this up front, I hate business cards. I hate it when people give them to me… I almost always throw them away.

If you didn’t make enough of an impression on me, for me to at least remember your name, or your companies name, your business card won’t do anything but add more fodder to my recycle bin.

Have we moved past the age of the business card? Am I the only one who thinks they are dated and useless? If you are in my camp, what are you doing when you meet a prospective client?

Do we need something like a business card, but more useful to a more modern audience? How about an app for your smart phone that makes sending this info back and forth easier?

Let me know.
